Job Summary

To effectively support and manage the Bank’s approach to first Line Operational Risk. Support the Quality Assurance Manager in building a best in class 'Go To' team for expertise and embed the culture of 'Right First Time across the Customer Journey.

Key responsibilities

  • Completing a suite of Quality Assurance and Thematic Review checks in line with targets set.
  • Support with 2LOD Compliance Monitoring, Internal and External Audits in respect of any annual reviews relating to Quality Assurance.
  • Continually assess, with the view to identifying Risks to the Bank & Customer through End 2 End checking.
  • Support with the production of high-quality reports/presentation packs for sharing with key stakeholders.
  • Provide Quality Assurance reporting of findings and monitor progress to ensure closed loop activity is achieved.
  • Support with reporting and presentation of performance metrics against the control’s framework.
  • Escalate any identified incidents and aid with resolution.
  • Support with the Identification and implementation of enhancements to increase the efficiency of processes.
  • Support with risk event reviews and analysis root causes analysis and adequacy of actions to address weaknesses.
  • Support with Internal Audit and compliance Monitoring in respect of any scheduled reviews and follow up actions of updating the relevant Procedures and Processes.
  • Support Quality Assurance and Procedure Manager with ad-hoc and change projects.
  • Support with preparation of monthly Quality Assurance reports for submission to the Operations Risk & Assurance Forum.
  • Support with the maintenance of all Standard Operating Procedures across HFO.
  • Support with the oversight of remedial actions to ensure risks are mitigated. Full audit trail is established including Risk Events raised by the business.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this role, for which the role holder has the necessary experience and/or training.
  • To Identify Competency gaps with the T&C scheme through the regular Check checker suite to support Operational change with enhancements to Policy & Standard Operational Procedures.
  • Take owners of Thematic Assurance reviews entailing the report writing and presentation seeing the completion of the review from start to full completion and delivery.

Skills required

  • Good working knowledge of MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint as a minimum).
  • Knowledge of UK banking (Customer Service, Credit. Financial Crime, Operations) and risk management & controls principles appropriate to the three lines of defence model.
  • Understanding of compliance with group policies including Conduct Risk.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a ‘can do’ attitude and strong team skills.
  • To think creatively when resolving problems and/or identify alternatives where established procedures may not exist, ensuring an improved customer experience.
  • Strong communication (written and oral) and organisational skills.
  • Able to work under pressure, whether alone or as part of a small team.
  • Willingness to challenge, collaborate and adapt.
  • Knowledge and experience of best practice and governance frameworks, methodologies, and emerging practice, in relation to the UK regulated financial services context.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyse complex information to identify the key issue/action and drive resolution.
  • Knowledge and understanding of risk control arrangements.
  • Knowledge of regulatory environment and key regulatory regimes.
  • Proven experience of working in a Risk/Controls Quality Assurance function within a financial institution
    Understanding of Regulatory requirements and Conduct rules (CONC, COBS, BCOBS, MCOB, SYSC, DISP)
