Job Summary

Financial Reporting & Control is a function within the Finance Department which overseas statutory reporting, management reporting, budgeting, tax and daily product control reporting. The Senior Financial Accountant will work closely with the Finance team and the Head of Finance to manage the product and financial control function and support monthly, quarterly, half-year and year-end reporting.

Key responsibilities

  • Managing the daily reporting, month-end and quarter-end close process including review and approval of the journal entries, consolidation of subsidiaries
  • Oversight of the accounts payable function
  • Preparation of month-end Flash report and management accounts
  • Forecasting the financial results on a monthly basis
  • Preparation annual financial statements and liaising with the external auditors, and providing relevant information to ensure their queries are dealt with in a timely manner
  • Preparation and submission of tax returns to HMRC in a timely manner
  • Evaluate control deficiencies across the financial reporting function
  • Design and implement appropriate processes to improve controls across the financial reporting team
  • Design and implement a risk-based balance sheet reconciliation process
  • Evaluate and manage the operational risk on a day-to-day basis

Skills required

  • Demonstrate experience within an SME banking environment, preferably Retail sector
  • Project lead or team management experience
  • Process improvement experience, within a Finance environment
  • HMRC reporting knowledge
  • Balance sheet oversight experience
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Qualified to ACMA, ACA, ACCA level or equivalent
