Job Summary

Responsible for underwriting operations, including the end-to-end application journey from broker on boarding, application, case management, underwriting, approvals, offers and legal fulfilment. The role is subject to the FCA’s Certified Regime as well as the main Code of Conduct rules.

We offer personal and corporate savings products and finance for UK residential and commercial property, in addition to sourcing and advising on UK real estate investments.

Key responsibilities

  • Being a key contributor to the operational strategy consistent with the Banks overall direction. Responsible for delivery of this strategy
  • Ensuring that the customer journey is seamless throughout the application lifecycle by delivering best in class service
  • Define, implement, monitor and report the operations KPI’s and SLA’s
  • Responsibility for the identification and mitigation of operational risks in line with the risk appetite set by the Board
  • Supporting the Chief Operating Officer in commercial and contractual negotiations with key product and service providers
  • Ensuring the delivery of a fully compliant on-boarding process to include brokers, suppliers and customers
  • Oversee the process of consultation and drafting of all underwriting operations processes and related documents
  • Identify opportunities to improve business process and implement changes to enhance the customer experience and operational effectiveness
  • Oversight and management of key suppliers to ensure they continue to provide high quality products and services in line with contractual commitments (including servicing provider, valuations, solicitor panel, software and data providers)
  • Ensuring that TCF principles are embedded throughout the customer life-cycle (including outsourced suppliers)
  • Instigation and undertaking of any investigations concerning client or customer complaints
  • Ensure that the governance framework, policies and procedures of all outsourced providers are sufficiently robust
  • Line management of the operations team including managerial direction, coaching and support. Conducting mid-year and year end appraisals, setting comprehensive goals for performance growth

Skills required

  • Operations and risk management experience (to include credit, fraud and operational risk)
  • Minimum of 3 years Underwriting management experience
  • Experience of creating and motivating a fast growing team in a high volume environment
  • Understanding of KYC, CDD, EDD, CTF and AML
  • Understanding of key legislation, regulatory bodies and best practice
  • Excellent understanding of reporting mechanisms
  • Strong ability to analyse information, and make informed judgements
  • Ethical and procedural standards
  • Project Management skills to include strong stakeholder management
