Financial Reporting & Control is a function within the Finance Department which overseas statutory reporting, management reporting, budgeting, tax and daily product control reporting. The role holder will work closely with the Finance team and the Finance Manager to assist with the product and financial control function and support monthly, quarterly, half-year and year end and reporting.

Please note - the position is office based with a Hybrid Working policy with flexibility to work from home up to 3 days a week.

Key responsibilities

Financial Control/Reporting

  • Preparation of the month-end close process, including submission of journal entries in a timely manner.
  • Support the accounts’ payable function including processing payments, review of the related journal entries in the accounting system.
  • Working closely with Treasury for hedge accounting assessment and accordingly updating hedge accounting workings.
  • Producing/reviewing monthly balance sheet and income statement GL code reconciliations.
  • Preparation of month-end Flash report and management accounts.
  • Preparation of annual financial statements and liaising with the external auditors and providing relevant information to ensure their queries are dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the Group consolidation process.
  • Preparation and submission of returns to HMRC in a timely manner.
  • Preparation of the monthly cost analysis workings and automating the process.
  • Assist with implementation of any new accounting standards.
  • Provide ad hoc reporting as and when required.

Product Control

  • Reviewing the daily product control reports.
  • Ensuring all deal bookings are booked correctly and flowing as expected in the accounting module and escalate to relevant persons.

Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Assists Finance Manager in budget and forecast reports, and related ad hoc requests.

Other Projects

  • Project management (automation of Accounts Payable function).
  • Support product control reporting re-design.
  • Assist with the implementation of any new systems.
  • Provide cover to senior team members, when necessary.

Any other duties commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this role, for which the role holder has the necessary experience and/or training.

Skills required

  • Is meticulous and detailed in producing analysis and interrogating systems.
  • Able to demonstrate good organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Familiar with financial ledger systems.
  • Logical and methodical in problem solving.
  • Very good all round communication skills and comfortable dealing with employees at all levels.
  • Proactive in responding to information requests from Management.
  • A self-starter who is able to work in a small team environment.
  • Exposure to IFRS.
  • A recognised university degree
  • A fully qualified accountant (ACMA, ACA, ACCA) or part-qualified accountant with suitable experience will be considered

Beneficial skills and qualifications

  • Knowledge of commercial loans and Real Estate investments would be an advantage.
