Job Summary

Working closely with the Finance Manager and Associate Management Accountant, the Finance Assistant will perform daily financial reporting related processes, primarily looking after the day-to-day accounts payable processes of the Bank.

Key responsibilities

  • Process purchasing invoices via the Bank’s automated invoice solution ensuring prompt and accurate payment in line with internal controls and payment terms.
  • Handling company expenses and corporate credit card claims, ensuring compliance with internal policies.
  • Carry out daily and monthly bank reconciliations, identifying discrepancies
  • Complete weekly supplier account reconciliations liaising with vendors to resolve queries and ensure accounts are up to date.
  • Manage preparing and executing BACS run by ensuring timely and accurate payment of all invoices
  • Carry out weekly accounts’ payable analysis, escalating overdue items as needed
  • To assist in the various reporting around the month-end and quarter-end.
  • Support the Finance Team and wider business with ad hoc financial analysis, data entry, and investigatory requests, maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with audit and compliance standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of finance processes, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency or accuracy.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this role, for which the role holder has the necessary experience and/or training.

Skills required

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint at an intermediate level (e.g., able to use formulas, pivot tables, and formatting tools effectively). .
  • Able to work in an organised manner meeting deadlines consistently.
  • ‘Client’ and ‘service’ orientated approach with a commitment to internal and external stakeholder satisfaction
  • Able to demonstrate good organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Very good all round communication skills and comfortable dealing with employees at all levels.
  • Proactive in responding to information requests from Finance and other teams.
  • Inquisitive and capable of working effectively in a small, collaborative team environment.
  • A recognised university degree or any equivalent qualification/experience in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
