Job Summary

To support the management of the product and financial control function and support monthly, quarterly, half-year and year end and reporting.

Key responsibilities

  • Managing the month-end close process including review and approval of the journal entries in a timely manner
  • Oversight of the accounts payable function including processing payments, approval of the related journal entries in the accounting system
  • Working closely with Treasury for hedge accounting assessment and accordingly updating hedge accounting workings
  • Producing/reviewing monthly balance sheet and income statement General Ledger code reconciliations
  • Preparation of month-end Flash report and management accounts
  • Forecasting the financial results on a monthly basis
  • Oversight and improvement of internal controls across Financial Control and Reporting function
  • Develop and regularly update the Finance department policies and process notes
  • Preparation of annual financial statements and liaising with the external auditors, and providing relevant information to ensure their queries are dealt with in a timely manner
  • Assist with the Group consolidation process
  • Preparation and submission of returns to HMRC in a timely manner
  • Reviewing the monthly costs analysis workings and automating the process
  • Update relevant Finance department policies and process notes
  • Assist with implementation of any new accounting standards
  • Provide ad hoc reporting as and when required
  • Reviewing the daily product control reports
  • Ensuring all deal bookings are booked correctly and flowing as expected in the accounting module and escalate to relevant persons
  • Assists Head of Finance in budget and forecast reports, and related ad hoc requests
  • Project management (macro fair value hedging implementation)
  • Support product control reporting re-design
  • Assist with the implementation of any new systems
  • Provide cover to senior team members, when necessary

Skills required

  • Experience of working in the financial services, preferably in the Retail Banking sector
  • Exposure to IFRS
  • Meticulous and detailed in producing analysis and interrogating systems
  • Able to demonstrate good organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Familiar with financial ledger systems
  • Logical and methodical in problem solving
  • Experience of working as part of an international group
  • Relevant university degree or equivalent
  • A fully qualified accountant (ACMA, ACA, ACCA)
