Job Summary
Alongside the Senior Product Manager, define and drive the strategy and development of Gatehouse Bank’s Home Finance product offering, ensuring alignment with commercial, market and regulatory requirements (internal and external). This involves applying effective risk management practices, while also managing and influencing key stakeholder relationships to support the successful delivery of innovative and compliant products that meet market demands and business objectives.
This role will also be responsible for providing key management information (MI) to stakeholders, ensuring data-driven decision-making and performance monitoring.
Key responsibilities
- With the Senior Product Manager, proactively manage the strategic, commercial, market and regulatory aspects of product development to effectively drive the Bank’s product offering.
- Determine customer needs and desires by carrying out the research needed to obtain market and competitor information.
- Recommend the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements.
- Proactively assess the market competition by comparing the company's product to competitors' products, pricing and criteria and making recommendations as to strategic direction to maintain or enhance market share.
- Obtain/provide data and reports on products and market share to develop product sales strategies.
- Assess product market data through attending broker visits with Business Development Manager’s (BDM’s), as agreed with Line Manager.
- Provide management information for short-term and long-term product sales forecasts, regular and ad-hoc reports, as required.
- Produce business proposals and data to bring new products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development programs in line with business needs.
- Ensure all Home Finance products meet Consumer Duty requirements, focusing on delivering fair outcomes and supporting customers' needs. Work to identify any areas where products or services may not be aligned with the duty of care and collaborate with teams to address any potential risks to consumers.
- Preparing return-on-capital analysis and maintaining the RoC calculator.
- Introduce and market new products in line with business and operational requirements by developing time-integrated plans with sales, marketing, and other related departments.
- Manage the implementation process for new product launches.
- Determine product pricing and criteria requirements in line with business capacity through market research data; review sales costs and anticipate volume to help determine workforce planning.
- Complete operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
- Act as deputy Risk Champion
- Any other duties commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this role, for which the role holder has the necessary experience and/or training.
Skills required
- Ability to manage product risk, compliance, and control activities.
- Considerable knowledge and experience of best practice and governance frameworks, methodologies, and emerging practice, in relation to the development and management of home finance
- products in UK regulated financial services context.
- Skilled communicator with the ability to influence and motivate others.
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyse complex information to identify the key issue/action and drive resolution.
- Knowledge and understanding of risk control arrangements.
- Knowledge of regulatory environment and key regulatory regimes.
- Advanced Excel and Word skills.
- Must be innovative, providing solutions which are appropriate, for the business and fit for purpose.
- Extensive knowledge of the UK Mortgage sector.
Beneficial skills and qualifications
- Understanding of Shariah-compliant Financing.
- Previous experience of product management.
- Extensive knowledge of Power BI
